- Allow around 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours from Noosa to Surfers Paradise without stops, and more when the timing meets Brisbane's peak hours or Sunday traffic.
- Plan the move around both your Noosa checkout and your Gold Coast check-in, and use any gap for a stop or a slower day.
- The northern Gold Coast theme parks sit close to the M1, so they are passed on the way south rather than being a detour.
- Theme park tickets and opening hours are separate from your transfer, so check them directly with the park before you plan the day.
For a lot of visitors, Queensland is a two-part holiday: the river and national park calm of Noosa, followed by the beaches, restaurants and theme parks of the Gold Coast. The move between the two is the hinge of the whole trip. Done well, it feels like a pleasant travel day; done badly, it is a stressful morning of packing, motorways and parking. A private chauffeur makes it the former. This guide covers timing the move, where the theme parks fit, and what to expect arriving in each part of the Gold Coast.
The trip south at a glance
From Noosa to Surfers Paradise is typically around 210 to 225 km. Without stops and in clear traffic, allow around 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours.
The route is the long coast-to-coast run in reverse. Your chauffeur leaves Noosa on the Sunshine Motorway, joins the Bruce Highway, the M1, heading south, then usually takes the Gateway Motorway past the eastern side of Brisbane. The Gateway has tolled sections. South of the river, the route joins the M1 Pacific Motorway down to the Gold Coast.
Both Noosa and the Gold Coast are in Queensland, so there is no time change between them. If your plans later take you over the border to Tweed Heads or Byron Bay, that changes during NSW daylight saving, as explained in our Gold Coast Airport to Byron Bay guide. For more on the northbound version of this trip, see the Gold Coast to Noosa private transfer guide.
Timing the move between hotels
Moving between two holiday bases means juggling two sets of times: checkout in Noosa and check-in on the Gold Coast. The gap between them is often several hours, which is either a problem or an opportunity depending on how you plan it.
- Leave at checkout and drive straight through: simple, but you may arrive before your Gold Coast room is ready. Ask the hotel whether early check-in or luggage storage is possible.
- Leave at checkout and stop on the way: a lunch or a lookout stop fills the gap and breaks up the drive. See stops on the way below.
- Ask for late checkout in Noosa: another slow morning by the river, then a drive timed to arrive close to check-in.
Traffic plays a part too. Sunday afternoons are often busy southbound on the Bruce Highway as weekend visitors return to Brisbane, and weekday peak hours around Brisbane can slow the middle of the trip. A mid-morning weekday departure often gives the smoothest run.
Send us both times, your Noosa checkout and your Gold Coast check-in, when you book. We will suggest a pickup time and, if there is a long gap, an easy way to use it.
Heading for the theme parks
Many families move to the Gold Coast specifically for the theme parks. The useful detail is geography: Dreamworld and WhiteWater World at Coomera, and Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet'n'Wild at Oxenford, are on the northern Gold Coast, close to the M1. Coming south from Noosa, you pass them before you reach Surfers Paradise. Sea World is further south, at Main Beach.
Hotel first, parks later
The simplest approach is to go to your hotel first, check in or drop bags, and visit the parks on another day. This keeps the move day calm, which matters with tired children. Our Gold Coast theme park transfers guide covers getting to the parks from your hotel, and the main site lists our theme park transfers.
Straight to a park on the way
Some families prefer to arrive and go straight into a park. That can be arranged, but it needs a little more planning: check with the park about tickets, opening hours and whether luggage can be stored, or ask us to take the bags on to your hotel. Theme park admission is always separate from your transfer.
Opening hours and ticket arrangements vary by park and season. Check them directly with the park before you build a move day around them, so the timing of your transfer matches the gate.
Collected at checkout, delivered to your next hotel or the theme parks.
Arriving at Gold Coast hotels
The Gold Coast is long and varied, and the final part of the trip depends on where you are staying. Each area has its own character and its own arrival quirks.
| Gold Coast area | What it tends to suit | Arrival note |
|---|---|---|
| Surfers Paradise | High-rise hotels and apartments, nightlife, the beach | Busy streets; most towers have a drop-off bay or entrance |
| Broadbeach | Dining, events and a slightly calmer beachfront | Include the building name; some share entrances |
| Main Beach | Resorts and quieter apartments near the Spit and Sea World | Resorts usually have a porte cochere or front entrance |
| Sanctuary Cove and Hope Island | Golf, marinas and resort living, close to the M1 | Gated areas may need a code or reception instructions |
| Burleigh Heads to Coolangatta | Relaxed beach towns and holiday homes on the southern coast | Allow extra time beyond Surfers; streets can be narrow |
Wherever you are staying, include the exact address, the property name and any access instructions when you book. Your chauffeur will take you to the door, unload your bags and make sure you are at the right entrance. You can see more of the coast in our destinations and service areas sections.
Stops on the way south
On a long transfer, a stop or two can turn a travel day into a pleasant one. These are entirely optional, and each adds time, so it is best to plan them at booking.
- Eumundi or the hinterland: close to Noosa, so an easy first stop, especially for one last browse before leaving the Sunshine Coast. Check market days and hours directly.
- A Glass House Mountains lookout: a short detour off the Bruce Highway with one of the best views on the route.
- A break once Brisbane is behind you: a natural moment to stretch legs before the final run down the M1.
- A coastal pause on the Gold Coast: a coffee somewhere like Burleigh Heads before heading to a southern Gold Coast address.
If you would like to make a full day of it, an hourly or as-directed booking keeps the chauffeur with you rather than running to a fixed arrival time. Some passengers even fit in a detour to the hills; our Tamborine Mountain winery tour guide shows what a slower day in the Gold Coast hinterland can look like.
Families, groups and a holiday's worth of luggage
By the middle of a two-part holiday, luggage has usually grown. Market finds, beach gear and a few extra bags all need room. Choosing the right vehicle makes the move day easier.
- Executive Audi Sedan: up to three passengers with standard luggage. Ideal for couples moving between resorts.
- Executive Mercedes V-Class: up to seven passengers, with space for prams, boards and extra bags. The usual choice for families and groups.
- Child seats: available on request; tell us ages when you book so they are fitted before pickup.
Compare both in our fleet section. If you are not sure which suits, get an instant quote and add a note about your luggage.

What a relaxed move day can look like
Every group is different, but it can help to picture how a well-planned move day runs. This is an example only; your own times depend on checkout, check-in, traffic and how many stops you want.
- Early morning in Noosa: a last swim or a walk in the national park while the town is quiet.
- Breakfast and packing: bags closed, keys ready and anything for the drive in a small cabin bag.
- Pickup at checkout: your chauffeur arrives at the agreed time, loads the luggage and heads for the Sunshine Motorway.
- A short stop: perhaps a lookout or a coffee, chosen at booking so it is already in the plan.
- Past Brisbane: the busiest part of the drive, handled by the chauffeur while you rest or chat.
- Lunch on the Gold Coast: a meal near the beach fills the gap before check-in.
- Arrival at the hotel: bags unloaded at the door, and the afternoon free for the pool or the beach.
The point is not the exact schedule but the shape. A move day built around the two fixed times, checkout and check-in, rarely feels rushed. A move day built around "leave when we are ready and see how traffic goes" often does.
For families heading straight into theme park days, a calm move day also pays off later. Children who arrive rested are far more likely to enjoy the first park day, rather than spending it catching up on sleep. If the parks are the main event, plan the move for the day before rather than the morning of.
After the Gold Coast: getting home
Once the Gold Coast part of the holiday is done, most travellers fly out of either Brisbane Airport or Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. Our Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast transfers guide covers the run between the coast and Brisbane Airport. If you are heading on to the Northern Rivers instead, the Brisbane to Byron Bay private transfer guide explains the drive south across the border.
If you are leaving by sea, see our Brisbane cruise terminal transfers guide. And if you have not yet travelled, it is worth booking the whole chain at once: the Brisbane Airport to Noosa transfer on arrival, the move south, and your final airport run.
